Livelihood promotion

SHG Promotion

Livelihood program is been core operational area of ASRA since its inception.

Keeping the saving habits of women, ASRA started to form women SHG’s in the 91 villages of the Kannod and Khategoan Blocks (Dewas Districts). The major objective was to involve all the deprived women’s into small groups. The group comprises of ten to twelve members whose economic & social condition are same and further more linked up with the government income generating schemes. For this several meetings are organized at the village level. Generally four to five meetings are required for the formation of the group, which is very much important for the cohesiveness and sustainable of the group. Thereafter they are linked up with the banks for the loaning purposes.

  • Most of the SHG members learned to write their names because of signature program
  • Some SHG’s has been linked up with the income generation programs and for rest we are exploring suitable IGA’s, for example mid day meal, dairy production, small shops, flour mill, Daliya production, Welding shop, Masala Udyog, Agarbatti / Mombatti making etc.

Strategies / Approach

The role of the ASRA is of facilitator. The destitute women’s are identified and are involved in SHG. Through SHG they are linked up with the banks such that they can take the various income generating activities. Fourth nightly meetings will be organized at the village level so as to sensitize them about the various ongoing atrocities.
